Hello everyone. Welcome to March, another month of maintaining a healthy you and another month closer to spring.
In this update, we highlight TruFit member Teresa Johnson. Our nutrition coach Kayla offers a super yummy recipe for protein balls, or what I call power bites. Read on.
Teresa Johnston: “I have a couple of reasons for starting this journey with TruFit. In October I began working for an assisted living community as their RN on staff for 46 residents. The varying degrees of health, or lack there of, was a huge eye opener. The obesity related illnesses are abundant and have contributed to this population’s lack of total independence. As I approach my 60th birthday this fall, I found this new work environment to be a huge incentive on the road to improved health!
By far though, the biggest reason I am on this path is my grandchildren. I have four grand babies under the age of six who I want to see graduate from high school, I want to dance at their weddings! I am determined to reduce the cardiac risks my genetics have presented me with!
The last two weight-loss programs I tried and had great success but were not sustainable as neither incorporated building muscle to increase my metabolism.
Previous diets had left me thin with minimal muscle mass. As I reached my goal it was impossible to introduce “real” food without gaining weight. TruFit incorporates eating a balanced diet with muscle building and cardio exercise, all of which are the secret to sustainable weight-loss and improved health! The team at Trufit provides the encouragement and ongoing support to keep you focused and on track week after week. With this team of dedicated experts I now have the courage to continue on this fitness journey for the remainder of my life, not just until the scale says I hit my weight loss goal.” Teresa
Teresa hit the nail spot on. Any diet will work to help you lose weight. But diet alone is not the real answer. Creating better habits through awareness and knowing your why is critical to long term and sustainable success.
She down 11.5 lbs, down 14.7 in fat mass, down 4.4 % in body fat, and gained 3.1 lbs of lean mass. Way to go Teresa.
